Behind the scenes pics from today's shoot

I love this huge doll Asli had made for the shoot, we called him Big Willy
Me and Big Willy
One of the designers had to stand in background holding up Big Willy's head with a stick
Asli had giant needles and thread made as props for the set

How to...

Step by Step guide on how to re-create the look a did for today's shoot

The make-up is not exactly true to colour on this pic (it was taken on my iphone) but I hope you get the idea anyway.

EYES
1. Use a light reflective shade over the entire lid (I used 'naked lunch' by Mac) concentrating on the inner corner and the brow bone
2. Then use a purply/pinky shade like 'cranberry' by Mac into the socket but bring it up quite high and far into the upper inner corner
3. Rim the eyes with a bronzy kohl pencil (I used 'brown copper' by Laura Mercier)
4. Then work the cranberry shade into the lower and upper lash, smoking in the kohl pencil
5. Add the light shade on the middle of the eyelid and blend in.  And finish off the look with loads of black mascara
SKIN
1. In the winter it's advised to prep the skin with a hydrating primer, (I used Garnier BB cream). And Chloe was recovering from a cold so I buffed in Emma Hardie's Moringa Balm to get rid of dry skin around her nose
2. Use a full coverage hydrating foundation (I used Mac's full cover)
3. To highlight the skin buff in a highlighting cream (I used 'AMC face & body illuminator'  in no 63 by Inglot) on the cheekbones, down the centre of the nose, and on the cupid's bow
4.  For blusher, use a slightly peachy tone (I think the shade I used was 'springsheen' by Mac)
LIPS
1. Use a nude shade to suit your colour, on Chloe I used a lipgloss from Lipstick Queen called infinate

Battersea photoshoot

Hellooo all...  I had an amazing shoot yesterday in Battersea, with the extremely talented photographer Chris Conway from Plymouth, and the beautifull model Soraya Khalil.   We shot on location in a very windy Battersea.

Here are a few behind the scenes pics to give you a little taster of what's to come.

For the make-up I kept it quite simple with a nude eye, and strong berry lips and as Soraya has such beautiful skin I used Mac strobe cream as a primer to give luminosity to her skin and I then lightly applied a couple different shades of foundation for a perfect match.  Later I added a bit of gold to the eyes with a swoosh of purple to add a bit of drama.

SPACE NK - FOUNDATION BRUSH
this is a very good quality brush, beautifully shaped for perfect foundation application

NARS - LARGER THAN LIFE EYELINERS

Nails, nails, nails...

It will come as no surprise to you that I love doing my nails, and after discovering nail art I have an even bigger obsession.  So when my sister Angie came to visit from South Africa, what was the first thing we did.....

Another colour blocking shoot....

Apologies for the lack of posts lately, here's what I've been up to lately.

Friday I had the opportunity to work with the fabulous stylist Jennivi Jordan again, and met wonderfully talented photographer Valentina Vos for the first time.  The day started off quite stressful when the model cancelled at the last minute but fortunately we a replacement in the form of Roksana from Models 1

We worked around the idea of colour blocking, and I wanted to keep the make-up simple with one main colour feature on the face, and I didn't want it to be too pretty.  As the styling focused on just one colour at a time.  So for the first look, I kept the eyes simple with just some black liner and added a bright orange lip and I kept the skin very dewy and fresh throughout.  For the second look, I kept the lips pale, and added bright pink blusher on the cheeks which I took up to the temple.  And finally for the last look, I added some aqua eye-shadow on the inner corner of the eye.

Here are some behind the scenes pics,  final shots to come soon.
